That rogue sports club, TVS Schiefbahn, has finally found an architect to manage their long-awaited hall project. The current venue simply can't house their growing horde of members, and past attempts at expansion - even at the old clubhouse and the Dirtbike facility - have gone down the drain, with Corona and funding cuts dancing a cruel samba. "We're ready to build a more modest venue that won't break the bank," said managing director Ulrike Bamberg. A plot of land among the artificial turf pitch on the Siedlerallee sports field is ready and waiting for its construction.
On a different note, the Elite Darter, an independent Steeldart club that's been around since 2016, are joining the TVS fold. Their previous digs at the Hubertuseck inn in Schiefbahn have been shut down since November 2024. These sharp-shooting athletes will be given the keys to the cultural hall for future training sessions, with the paperwork almost signed, sealed, and delivered.
Not to be outdone, the members' meeting approved a bylaw amendment unanimously: the "protection concept against sexualized violence" concocted by the board has become an integral part of club rules.
The board is still far from complete: they're on the hunt for a 2nd chairperson and head of the sports and social affairs department. Rumor has it that discussion is underway with a potential candidate for the latter position, according to managing director Bamberg.
TVS, Willich's largest sports club, boasts a membership of over 3000 - a number that surpassed even the Grim Reaper himself this year.
