Fresh Tack on Becker's Wimbledon Returns

London gossip - Boris Becker, the famed tennis maestro who triumphed at Wimbledon a whopping three times, won't grace the grounds as a TV pundit for the 40th anniversary of his maiden champion trophy. Instead, he'll offer his sage insights from Milan, Italy, working with Sky Italia for the third consecutive year. His lawyer, Christian-Oliver Moser, confirmed the news to the German Press Agency (dpa).

Piqued Interest in Becker's Presence

"Tickets to snatch up Becker for on-site commentating starting next year are blazing hot from various TV stations," Moser elaborated. The summer spectacle commences on June 30.

After Becker's early release from a British prison in December 2022, following a conviction for untruthful statements during insolvency proceedings, his UK access was severed. As a result, he couldn't perform as a TV analyst for the BBC at Wimbledon, a role he held for two decades[1][4].

Becker's Italian Base

Last year, Becker hinted at a potential return to Wimbledon's commentary box in 2025. "It's a part of me. It's in my DNA, you can't deny it," he stated at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid.

Becker claimed the title at the venerable grass-court classic for the first time at the tender age of 17 in 1985[5]. Today, the Leimen native resides in Milan alongside his wife, Lilian De Carvalho Monteiro.

"Despite the excitement surrounding Boris Becker's potential return to the Wimbledon commentary box, he will not be providing sports-analysis on-site as he is now stationed in Milan, Italy, working for Sky Italia. Instead, there's a growing interest in securing him for sports commentary starting next year from various TV stations, a prospect hindered by his early release from a British prison and subsequent ban from the UK."

"Tennis enthusiasts may find it interesting to note that Becker currently resides in Milan, Italy, where he's been offering his tennis expertise to Sky Italia for the past three years, a departure from his long-standing tradition of providing sports-analysis at Wimbledon."
