Tennis Legend Boris Becker Avoids Wimbledon's 40th Anniversary
Commentator Becker Present at Wimbledon from Milan for TV Analysis
Caught in the headlines - Boris Becker will shun the on-site TV expert gig for Wimbledon's 40th anniversary spectacle. Instead, the tennis titan will be delivering his commentary for Sky Italia from Milan, having done so for the past two years, as bound by contract. But fret not, broadcasters are eagerly vying to secure Becker's talents as an on-site expert next year, according to his lawyer Christian-Oliver Moser.
Strong Interest from TV Stations: Becker's Next Stop
Moser added, "There's a robust interest from multiple TV networks looking to snag Becker as an on-site expert." The countdown begins with just over a month left until the Grand Slam smash kicks off on June 30.
Ostracized in the UK: Becker's Exile
Following his early prison release in December 2022, where he paid time for falsifying statements in an insolvency case, Becker was subsequently barred from UK entry for several years. This unfortunate situation precluded him from working as a TV expert for the BBC at Wimbledon, a post he previously held.
Last year in Milan, where Becker now resides with his wife Lilian De Carvalho Monteiro, he hinted at a potential return to the Grand Slam tournament in London in 2025. In a conversation at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, Becker shared, "It's a significant part of my life, it's etched in my DNA, you can't deny that."
Becker, who rose to prominence in 1985 at the tender age of 17 by seizing the title at the grass-court classic, has had three Wimbledon victories under his belt during his active career.
