Get ready, folks! The old, rickety bridge on the B45 in Bad König, Odenwald district, is about to make way for a modern beauty. Hessian Minister of Transport Kaweh Mansoori (SPD) has announced that the demolition will commence towards the end of July. But hang on tight because the actual blast is scheduled for early August!

This bridge, which has been a no-go zone for both cars and trains since mid-May, was found to be sporting some unsightly cracks during an inspection. As you can imagine, this caused quite a commotion in the area!

The railways, however, might be back on track by the end of the summer holidays, according to the transport minister. But as for the cars, well, we're still waiting for the details. The tendering process for the demolition and planning of the new bridge is currently underway, as revealed in a press release.

SPD's Kaweh Mansoori believes keeping the region's people connected is paramount, stating, "We aim to ensure the people here can reach their destinations with minimal detours."

On the other hand, the Association of Hessian Entrepreneurs (VhU) sees the situation unprecedented for Odenwald's businesses, commuters, and residents. The chairman of the VhU's transport committee shares these sentiments, describing the situation as catastrophic.

Though the road ahead appears challenging, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Darmstadt is advocating for a resilient schedule for the new bridge's construction, drawing parallels with the swift Genoa bridge rebuild. Kaweh Mansoori has vowed to address the issue head-on, focusing on a swift demolition to pave the way for the construction of the new bridge.

Stay tuned as we navigate through this disruption together!
