The USAA Poppy Wall of Honor, a poignant tribute to over 600,000 fallen service members, returns to the National Mall in Washington, D.C., for Memorial Day weekend. The installation, now in its sixth year, offers a space for remembrance and reflection, honoring the sacrifice of these heroes.

As Memorial Day approaches, the nation is reminded of the price of freedom. The USAA Poppy Wall of Honor, originally unveiled in 2018, stands as a living monument, measuring 134 feet in length. It symbolizes the supreme sacrifice made by more than 600,000 U.S. military personnel.

Since its inception, the poppy wall has drawn over 50,000 visitors from around the globe, moved by the display of patriotism and sacrifice. The red poppy, a symbol of remembrance for military personnel who have died in service, takes center stage in the exhibit.

Juan C. Andrade, president and CEO of USAA, emphasized the importance of honoring Memorial Day, not just in words, but in actions. "We should uphold the values that our fallen heroes defended, support each other, and continue to cherish the freedoms they so bravely fought for," said Andrade, who advocates for the military community.

This year's installation coincides with two solemn anniversaries—80 years since the conclusion of World War II and 50 years since the end of the Vietnam War. The expanded exhibit features immersive storytelling aimed at deepening visitors' understanding of the immense contribution each fallen hero made in the defense of liberty.

According to USAA, Memorial Day is about more than just a single act. It's about building a community around shared values of service, honor, and gratitude for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. USAA encourages several ways for Americans to pay tribute, including visiting the Poppy Wall of Honor, wearing a poppy, observing flag protocol, participating in the National Moment of Remembrance, and visiting local military memorials and cemeteries.

USAA, founded by military officers in 1922, serves more than 14 million members of the U.S. military community. For more information about the exhibit, Memorial Day events, and the lives behind each poppy, visit usaa.com/memorialday.
