Commemorative occasion approaching: 25th anniversary of the Wehrhahn Incident scheduled for this Sunday.

On July 27, 2025, the 25th anniversary of the tragic Wehrhahn S-Bahn station bombing in Düsseldorf, an initiative called "Wehrhahn remember" invites everyone to commemorate this significant event. The bombing, which claimed several lives and left many more injured, was linked to neo-Nazi extremists associated with the National Socialist Underground (NSU).

The event is open to interested parties, social work professionals, pedagogues, volunteers, potentially affected groups, Jewish university groups, students of social work, law, criminology, and engaged members of civil society. A gathering, exchange, and exhibition of student projects will take place at the S-Bahn station Wehrhahn, Ackerstraße, from 12 to 17 o'clock.

Registration for the lecture and tour, led by Jürgen Peters, is required. The lecture and tour will begin at the ASG education forum, Gerresheimer Str. 90. Further program points include an open Church of St. Elisabeth for all guests as a place of silence throughout the day on Sunday. A memorial rally will take place from 3 to 4 pm with various speeches.

Sabine Reimann and Fabian Virchow will present the book "And thus came the fear..." from 2 to 2:30 pm. The book describes the events of the Wehrhahn S-Bahn station bombing and its consequences for the victims, taking a critical look at the police investigation and the trial related to the attack.

In addition, an Expert Day titled "The Wehrhahn attack 25 years ago" is planned at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. The day will delve deeper into the investigation, the trial, and the impact of the attack, focusing on extreme right-wing structures in the Düsseldorf area and anti-Semitic propaganda in right-wing media.

Ronen Steinke will have a conversation from 6 to 8 pm at the House of Friends on Worringer Straße 94, titled "Encouragements for democracy and human rights". Unfortunately, the registration deadline for participation in the conversation with Ronen Steinke has already passed.

The initiative aims to keep the memory of the attack alive and make it part of Düsseldorf's public consciousness. It's a reminder of the importance of standing against hate and extremism, and a call to continue the fight for justice and human rights.
