Dieksee Run Celebrates 125th Anniversary in a Sporting Manner
The picturesque town of Malente, Germany, played host to the 20th Dieksee run, a much-anticipated annual event that took place on the shores of Lake Dieksee. The 11-kilometer run, which attracted participants from various federal states and even Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, marked the conclusion of the 125th anniversary celebrations of TSV Malente, a multi-sport club with a rich history dating back to 1900.
The event saw the participation of around 180 runners, including 85-year-old Heinz Schulze from Berlin who has participated 12 times. The race was divided into different categories, with Benjamin Reuter from LAC Kronshagen claiming victory in the Dieksee run in an impressive time of 41:37 minutes. Jessica Caplan from Wermelskirichner emerged victorious in the Nordic walking course, completing the route in 1:21:02 hours.
In the Nordic walking category, Maik Reiser from Marschacht took first place, finishing the course in 1:25:18 hours. Alina Königsberg from Eutin won the women's category in 49:45 minutes. Renke Lill from TSV Süsel won the 1.5-kilometer children's run in 4:22 minutes.
Unfortunately, the 5-kilometer run for everyone had to be canceled for organizational reasons.
Thorsten Niemann, the organizer of the event, took a moment to thank all volunteers, the main sponsor DRK Malente, AOK employees, and sponsors for their contributions to the festival. Winners and placements can be viewed online at www.diekseelauf.de.
