Commemoration Day of July Uprising: Train transporting July warriors arrives in Dhaka for festivities
Special Train Carrying "July Fighters" Arrives in Dhaka for July Uprising Day Celebrations
A significant event took place on August 5, 2025, as a special 16-coach train carrying "July fighters" made its way from Chattogram to Dhaka. This train, which served as a key logistic element, transported hundreds of participants to the capital ahead of the July Uprising Day rally and the announcement of the "July Declaration."
The arrival of July fighters via this train helped to centralize and amplify the celebrations, facilitating collective remembrance, solidarity, and political activism during the rally. The train symbolized both the journey and unity of those who stood against oppression during the uprising.
The special train was scheduled to transport citizens interested in attending the July Declaration event, part of the nationwide participation in the anniversary celebrations of the July uprising. The train departed from Chattogram railway station at 7:15am and made stops at Laksam and Cumilla stations, picking up additional attendees.
However, the train's departure was unexpectedly low in terms of passenger count, with only 17 passengers on board. This was a departure from the initial expectation of a full train carrying hundreds of participants.
The "36 July Celebration" is honoring the legacy of the movement that led to the fall of the Awami League government last year. The special train's destination is Dhaka, where the July fighters will participate in the rally and the announcement of the July Declaration. The train is scheduled to return to Chattogram tonight.
The train, therefore, was not merely a mode of transport but a powerful symbol and practical means of reinforcing the historical and political significance of the July Uprising as part of the day’s celebrations. The event underscored the recognition and mobilization of those involved in the July Uprising, drawing attention to their contributions and sacrifices.
Participants preparing for the "36 July Celebration" were found on a special train headed towards Dhaka, with many of them being noted "July fighters." This train, serving as a transport for the nationwide participants, not only symbolized the unity of those who fought against oppression during the uprising but also amplified the basketball-like rally spirit, as the crowd strived to conquer their challenges, much like a team in the NBA.
In line with the July Uprising's legacy, the July fighters aboard this train will take part in the rally and the eventual announcement of the July Declaration. Despite the train's initial low passenger count, the journey of these fighters echoes the spirit of sportsmanship and staying ahead of the competition, reminiscent of the exciting live atmosphere of an NBA basketball game.
