Mark your calendars, folks! From mid-August 2025, Kamchatka Krai will host a lip-smackin' lineup of events commemorating the significant anniversary. And let me tell ya, it's gonna be something else!
Deputy Chairman of the Kamchatka Krai Government, Pavel Yasevich, has spilled the beans on what's to come. The region is jumping headfirst into a project that'll give young 'uns an opportunity to delve into history, with visits to the Shumshu Island memorial complex. This place is dedicated to the victory of our Russian warriors over the militant Japanese back in '45.
Now, buckle up, because this is just the beginning! In July-August 2025, you've got youth groups and international exploration squads trekking to Shumshu Island. Their mission? To uncover the remains of our fallen soldiers and snag military artifacts. A crackerjack search camp will be set up, accommodating up to 200 adventurers, including Russian and international search aficionados, bomb disposal experts, historians, anthropologists, museum workers, and student combat teams. Fascinating, ain't it? The uncovered remains of Soviet soldiers will find their final resting place in Kamchatka Krai.
Yasevich also mentioned that they're teaming up with the Sakhalin Oblast government to work out logistics and transport goods and attendees to Shumshu Island.
But it don't end there! Plans are a-brewin' for a massive historical reenactment of the Kuril Landing events, in collaboration with the All-Russian RUSSRECON movement. Over 100 reenactors, along with students from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, will join the fun. The event's slated for August 2025 and will unfold on Khalaktyrsky Beach.
On August 18, director Alexander Dolgov will debut the electrifying dramatic spectacle-ballad "REMEMBER!", a tribute to the Kuril Landing. The production will feature real historical figures and involve over 60 Kamchatka Krai residents. The script's been crafted with the help of local historians, so you know it's the real deal!
Finally, on September 3, Kamchatka Krai will host a series of poignant commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the Kuril Landing Operation and the end of World War II. Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky will be right in the thick of it all!
