Ready for an unmarred, birthday bash at 80 - Theo Zwanziger's not done with the German Football Association (DFB) just yet. In an exclusive talking with the "Rhein-Zeitung", he threatened a lawsuit against the DFB for emotional distress, stating, "By July at the latest, there will be a lawsuit against the DFB."

After clearing up summer trial mixtures, resulting in a minimal fine of 10,000 euros from the Frankfurt Regional Court in late April, Zwanziger's now turning the heat on the DFB with a legal comeback. "I've been reinstated. I won't forget the ten years of severe personal turbulence caused by the ignorant actions of DFB officials," he declared, confirming his intentions.

Crisis: DFB sues former leader

Zwanziger's rocky relationship with the association, sharing the top spot from 2004 with Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder, and leading solo from 2006 till 2012, reached breaking point in January of this year. At that time, the DFB filed a damages lawsuit against their past-president at the Frankfurt Regional Court, claiming 24 million euros. Zwanziger dismissed the claim as "nonsense".

A birthday to remember

His significant day begins with an open gathering in the community hall of Altendiez, where he resides, moving into a vibrant evening with family and nearest pals. "I'm a contented man," Zwanziger shared.

Association's warm wishes

Despite disagreements, DFB Head Bernd Neuendorf extended heartfelt congratulations to the celebrant, citing Zwanziger's significant contributions to the DFB's positive evolution and frequent motivations. "His unwavering commitment to the progress of women's and amateur football is unforgettable," Neuendorf stated, expressing gratitude towards Zwanziger in the name of the overall German football family.
