Manoj Prabhakar, a seasoned stand-up comedian with over a decade of experience, is set to make his debut at the prestigious Edinburgh Festival Fringe with his English solo show, "Extra Ordinary." The show will run from August 1 to 23 (except 10 and 17) at the Pickle Studio, Riddle's Court, Edinburgh, at 6.20 pm.

Prabhakar, who hails from India, is not chasing viral fame or trying to 'break into the UK market' with his show. Instead, he believes that the universality of the themes in his show will speak for themselves at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a renowned performing arts festival known for its unpredictability.

"Extra Ordinary" explores how language and culture divide and connect us, using humor to address cultural differences with sarcasm and self-deprecation. The show is built around the idea that "the more local something is, the more universal it becomes."

Prabhakar has been preparing for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for months, and he acknowledges that marketing one's show at the festival is a full-time hustle. He has spoken with fellow comedians who have performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, including Kanan Gill, Anirban Dasgupta, and Deepu.

Prabhakar, who has found his own 'language' in comedy, which he describes as comfortable, convincing, and authentic, is excited to return to Edinburgh. He considers the festival a "bucket-list item" for stand-up comedians.

In an interview, Prabhakar noted that even though he has learned English as a second language, it continues to evolve with each new generation. He believes that his unique perspective as a desi comic will resonate with audiences at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, who don't expect familiarity; they want to hear the comedian's unique perspective.

Prabhakar is not new to the comedy scene, having performed in various venues across India and abroad. If given a chance, he would speak about career pivots and finding meaning in something new in a TEDx talk. He wants audiences to understand that no one is above or below, and we're all trying to do something extraordinary.
