Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation pledges $1.1M to local charities and youth hockey

The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation has announced a major funding boost for local charities and youth hockey programmes. Over $1.1 million in grants will be distributed at the start of the 2025-26 NHL season. This follows a successful year of fundraising, including the popular CannonBall event.

The team's next match takes place this Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins at 7 p.m. ET, with live coverage across multiple platforms.

The Foundation revealed its latest grant total of $1.1 million, marking one of its largest single-season investments. Over 25 years, the organisation has now contributed more than $16 million to central Ohio's community initiatives.

The CannonBall event, scheduled for Tuesday, February 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Nationwide Arena, plays a key role in these efforts. Last year's edition raised over $500,000, directly supporting the Foundation's grant programmes. This year's theme, Millennium Rewind, promises a 2000s-style party with a boy band performance, themed cocktails, and dancing.

Attendees can dress in retro outfits and interact with Blue Jackets players, coaches, and personalities. Limited tickets are available for $500 each.

Meanwhile, the team prepares for its upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the match on FanDuel Sports, CW Columbus, and the Blue Jackets Radio Network.

The Foundation's grants will fund health, wellness, and youth hockey projects across central Ohio. The CannonBall event continues to be a major source of support, with this year's edition aiming to build on past success. The team's next game offers fans a chance to see the Blue Jackets in action before the charity event takes place.
