Colts tight end Tyler Warren misses practice due to toe injury on Wednesday
Indianapolis Colts Face Injury Concerns with Key Players
The Indianapolis Colts are dealing with injuries to two of their key players, wide receiver Josh Downs and tight end Tyler Warren.
Josh Downs, the third-leading receiver on the team with eight catches this season, missed Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury. The injury occurred with 11 minutes left in the third quarter during a game against the Denver Broncos. Despite his absence from practice, Downs remains third on the team in terms of catches.
On the other hand, Tyler Warren, the Colts' leading receiver and tight end, continues to impress this season. Warren, who was the 14th overall pick in the 2025 draft, leads all tight ends in yards (155) and yards after the catch (90) in the current season. However, Warren also missed practice on Wednesday due to a toe injury, which he sustained during a game in Week 2 against the Broncos.
Despite the injury, Warren played through the pain and logged 66 total snaps in the game. He is optimistic about his recovery and expects to be available later in the week and play in Sunday's game at Tennessee.
Quarterback Daniel Jones has high praise for both Downs and Warren, considering them his favorite receivers this season. The Colts' roster does not explicitly name a replacement for Warren should he not be available, but other tight ends ahead or available include Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree.
Warren's injury did not stop him from making an impact during practice. On Wednesday, he was spotted wearing a floppy fishing hat near the practice field. Despite the injury, he continues to lead the team with a team-leading 11 receptions this season.
The Colts will be hoping for a speedy recovery for both Downs and Warren as they prepare for their upcoming game against the Tennessee Titans.
