Colossal Audio Transformation Project
Oracle Park, home to the San Francisco Giants, has unveiled a new state-of-the-art sound system, thanks to the expertise of Diversified. This upgrade, installed for the stadium's 25th anniversary in 2024, aims to elevate the fan experience with a focus on high-fidelity music and improved intelligibility.
The new sound system, which includes public area sound systems, Gotham Club, executive meeting rooms, and other private spaces, boasts cutting-edge technology such as the Yamaha CL5 audio console, Shure Axient microphones, and QSC Q-SYS Core 5200 for digital signal processing.
Notably, the project extended beyond the MLB Opening Day, with the goal of enhancing the audio experience for multiple events at Oracle Park. Diversified's on-site crews worked diligently to finish the biggest sections before early 2024 events to avoid any disruption.
Bill Schlough, the Giants' chief information officer, praised Diversified's attention to detail and delivery of a transformational audio experience. The new system's capabilities include dynamic processing in Q-SYS, which creates zone-specific mixes automatically from console feeds at Oracle Park.
The upgrade also focused on improving the acoustic experience in the outfield. High-performance, long-throw speakers, 21-inch subwoofers, and various QSC CX-Q models amplifiers were installed. Fulcrum loudspeakers and subwoofers were used around the different stadium zones, JBL CBT Series column speakers on concourses, and compact Fulcrum Acoustic RX Series speakers at entrances.
The original sound system, while still functional, was nearing the end of its life and was not capable of meeting the Giants' new requirements for a more immersive fan experience. This upgrade marks a significant step forward in delivering an enhanced audio experience for fans at Oracle Park.
In a recent fan survey, 87% of respondents were either 'Highly Satisfied' or 'Somewhat Satisfied' regarding the sound quality and volume at Oracle Park. The new system is expected to further boost these positive sentiments, ensuring that the Giants' home games continue to be an unforgettable experience for fans.
Oracle Park, which opened on April 11, 2000, has been the site of many memorable moments for the Giants, including three World Series titles in five years (2010, 2012, and 2014). With this new sound system in place, fans can look forward to even more unforgettable moments in the years to come.
At Oracle Park, the newly installed sound system promises to enhance the audio experience not only for San Francisco Giants' baseball games but also various sports and events, such as concerts and corporate meetings. The state-of-the-art system, featuring Yamaha CL5 audio consoles, Shure Axient microphones, and QSC Q-SYS Core 5200 digital signal processing, aims to deliver a transformational experience across different zones at the stadium, ensuring that every moment at Oracle Park remains memorable for its visitors.
