Overnight lows have been dipping into the 20s across Summit and Grand counties, signaling the approach of ski season. Arapahoe Basin Ski Area (A-Basin), known for its high elevation, is a strong contender for opening first. Although not explicitly racing to open earliest, A-Basin is ready for an early start.
Winter Park Resort is also gearing up for an early opening, thanks to new snowmaking upgrades and favorable weather patterns. Keystone Resort, aiming for tree-to-tree coverage on its opening trails, is working to create an 18-inch base of snow for its debut day. Both resorts, along with others, are optimistic about opening in late October if weather conditions remain favorable.
Despite no official opening dates announced, Colorado's ski resorts are preparing for an early start to the season.
