The City of Greeley has secured a major win in its efforts to transform a 100-acre site into a regional destination. The Colorado Eagles, a professional ice hockey team, have agreed to become the anchor tenant in Greeley's planned multi-purpose arena and ice center, which is part of the City's larger West Greeley Project.

The West Greeley Project, slated to begin construction in 2026, will feature a mix of entertainment, retail, dining, lodging, and community amenities. The new arena and ice center, scheduled to open in July 2028, will be the heart of this development, hosting the Colorado Eagles for their home games starting from the 2028-2029 American Hockey League (AHL) season.

The City Council has finalized a 40-year agreement with the Colorado Eagles, making Greeley their home when the new facility opens. The rent for the arena will have automatic 10% increases every five years. The team will pay the City between $20,000 and $22,000 per game based on attendance.

In addition to the rent, the City and the Eagles will share revenue from suite sales, specific ticket fees, advertising, sponsorships, and a portion of food and beverage sales. This partnership is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the city.

The groundbreaking for the broader development, marking the first visible step towards the transformation of the site, is expected later this month. For updates on the project, visitors can check speakupgreeley.com/catalyst.

The Eagles' current lease at Larimer County's The Ranch Events Complex in Loveland ends in 2028. With this new agreement, the team will find a new home in Greeley, bringing excitement and energy to the city.

The new facility is scheduled to open in 2028 as part of the Cascadia development. The City of Greeley will be the owner of the arena, under a 40-year lease agreement with the team. The West Greeley Project aims to not only provide a state-of-the-art arena for the Colorado Eagles but also to establish Greeley as a vibrant and dynamic destination for residents and visitors alike.
