Cologne-based Polish ice hockey team, referred to as the Bullsharks
The much-anticipated "Blue Light Ice Hockey" tournament is set to take place on March 28, 2025, at the Troisdorf Ice Sports Hall, Uckendorfer Straße 135. This exciting event is a friendly competition between police and fire department teams, and serves as a significant part of the tenth anniversary celebrations of the Bullsharks Cologne.
The tournament is open to all, with admission being free for spectators. However, the organisers encourage donations to make this charity event even more impactful. Dr. Andreas Meyer, the patron of the Bullsharks Cologne, and Cologne's police president Johannes Hermanns, who is also the patron of the Bullsharks, have both shown their support for the tournament.
The North Rhine-Westphalian Police Foundation, the Help for Helpers Foundation of the German Firefighters' Association, and the Cologne Ambulant Children's Hospice Service are the three charitable organisations that will benefit from the tournament's donations. The funds raised will be divided equally among these organisations, ensuring a fair distribution of support.
Three teams will participate in the tournament: the Police Penguins Krefeld, the Ruhr Cops Bochum, and the Backdraft Cologne, alongside the Bullsharks Cologne. The tournament is described as "something special" by Cologne's police president Johannes Hermanns, promising an evening of thrilling ice hockey and community spirit.
