Cycling legend Jan Ullrich has finally broken his silence about the unfortunate accident he was involved in last week. The ex-Tour de France champion was hit by a car on a main road, leaving him with a fractured kneecap, bruises, and road rash.

Speaking on his podcast "Ulle & Rick" with fellow cycling pro Rick Zabel, the 51-year-old shared his harrowing experience of the crash. "I wish I didn't have to go through this," he admitted, "I was just cycling, taking it easy, about to reach home. The driver didn't see me coming, and boom—he rammed me on my left side head-on."

Presently recuperating in Freiburg Hospital, Ullrich shared his struggles with pain but expressed optimism about his recovery. Although he still has a drain on him, he mentioned that he had four drains earlier, indicating some progress. Despite his ongoing recovery, Ullrich intends to attend the "Jan Ullrich Cycling Festival" in Bad Dürrheim this weekend, if not behind the handlebars. "I'll be there, but not pedaling," he assured.
