In the wake of actor Rolf Schimpf's tragic passing, his former colleagues are grappling with the loss. Charles M. Huber, a close companion of Schimpf from the hit crime series "The Old One", shared his sentiments, admitting, "This news hit me hard, and it's going to take a while to process." Pierre Sanoussi-Bliss, another long-time co-star, responded to the German Press Agency, saying, "Dear Rolf, I hope you have a wonderful journey, wherever it may take you. Farewell, old friend!"
Both of Schimpf's former peers extolled his virtues. Huber, for instance, described Schimpf as an "extraordinary individual in his humility and a team player par excellence." Huber added that Schimpf was distinguished by his "respect, tolerance, modesty, naturalness, and approachability. Envy and malice, attributes not always characteristic of the limelight, were foreign to him."
Huber reminisced, "I liked Rolf because he was exactly as he was. Simply a truly good person, not just putting on a friendly face." Schimpf not only displayed a stellar sense of humor but also cherished genuine camaraderie. Huber pledged, "I won't be the only one from our group who will miss him, having worked with him for eleven years."
Sanoussi-Bliss, who collaborated with Schimpf in "The Old One" for about a decade, emphasized, "I admired how he soldiered on in his golden years, with remarkable discipline, fighting through days when he wasn't feeling well."
Schimpf, aged 100, breathed his last on March 22, 2025. Despite his advanced years, he maintained his presence on camera until the end, featuring for approximately 20 years as the lead commissioner Leo Kress in the ZDF series "The Old One."
