Lidl and Trek to Rework Ownership of UCI WorldTour Team

Lidl, Europe's largest food retailer, and Trek, a renowned global bicycle manufacturer, are in advanced talks to restructure the ownership of the UCI WorldTour team Lidl-Trek. The deal, if approved by all relevant authorities, will see Lidl becoming the majority stakeholder while Trek retains a significant ownership stake as the founding partner.

The change aims to strengthen the team’s resources and ambitions, with Lidl increasing its involvement following its initial sponsorship starting in 2023. The new ownership arrangement is expected to finalize in the coming weeks.

One of the significant investments resulting from the restructuring will be the establishment of a state-of-the-art Performance Center. This center will focus on athlete health, recovery, and performance analysis, enhancing the team’s competitiveness and operational capacities.

Lidl-Trek's goal is to become one of the top teams in international road cycling. The team aims to attract top riders, emerging talents, and elite staff, and to compete with other leading 'super teams' in the sport, such as UAE Team Emirates-XRG and Ineos Grenadiers.

Since Lidl joined Lidl-Trek mid-2023, both the men's and women's teams have consistently evolved. The team has seen significant signings and high performance, including winning major races and stages in 2025, illustrating the positive impact of increased sponsorship and investment.

Trek will continue to be a co-owner and technical partner, supporting the team's legacy and bike innovation while contributing to the continued development of the squad. The partnership between Lidl and Trek is characterized by a passionate commitment to high performance and open engagement with fans.

Luca Guercilena, General Manager of Lidl-Trek, is proud of the team's achievements and looks forward to a brighter future with Lidl's involvement. Thomas Rohregger, Managing Director of Brand Partnerships and Head of Cycling at Lidl, is grateful for Trek's trust and looks forward to taking the next step together. Roger Gierhart, Vice President of Trek Bicycle, expresses a long-term commitment to cycling with Lidl-Trek.

In addition to the Performance Center, Lidl-Trek will also benefit from investments in artificial intelligence and digital sovereignty by Schwarz Digits, another company in the Schwarz Group. Lidl is committed to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle as part of its social responsibility.

The team's philosophy of being the team fans want to cheer for while striving to be the best remains unchanged. Lidl-Trek will continue to embody the values of team spirit, strong performance ambition, and enjoyment of sporting competition.
