Collaborative law enforcement apprehends MS-13 gang members in New York, charged with unlawful assault and attempted murders.
The Biden administration has seen a record number of border crossings, with two of the recently arrested MS-13 gang members illegally crossing the Southern border during this period.
In a joint operation between ICE, the FBI, and New York police, three MS-13 gang members were apprehended. The three individuals, Edras Daniel Velasquez Giron, Elias Wilfredo Serrano Bonilla, and an unnamed individual from Honduras, are currently residing illegally in the United States.
The three arrested individuals face a total of 14 counts of attempted murder and 49 counts of assault. Bonilla, who is from El Salvador and illegally entered the United States sometime before December 2016, was charged with a series of crimes including eight counts of attempted murder, first-degree assault with intent to cause serious injury with a weapon, and numerous counts of assault, robbery, and gang assault.
Giron, another arrested MS-13 gang member from Honduras who illegally entered the United States before June 2022, is charged with six counts of attempted murder, first-degree assault with intent to cause serious injury with a weapon, and various counts of assault, conspiracy, and weapon possession.
Archaga, the third arrested MS-13 gang member from Honduras who illegally entered the United States in 2022, is charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon (firearm/weapon), third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and driving without a license.
The arrested men are currently being held in custody of Nassau County Police. Once they are released from the New York justice system, they will be transferred into ICE custody. Giron was ordered for deportation by an immigration judge on September 28, 2023.
Bonilla was previously arrested in January 2020 and was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree gang assault. Jeffrey Bladimir Valladares Archaga, 20, was arrested on July 17.
Acting ICE Director Todd M. Lyons stated that "America is no longer a dumping ground for foreign criminals and gang members."
