Collaboration Delights Beau Willimon in Shows Like Andor and Severance

Hey there! Let's chat about Beau Willimon and the shows he's currently making waves in: Apple TV+'s Severance and Disney+'s Andor.

In a recent conversation with Variety, Willimon shared some exciting insights about his role in these popular series!

Working as an executive producer on Severance, Willimon lies at the heart of the psychological thriller, which delves into the murky depths of identity and corporate control in a nightmarish corporate world. Collaborating with fellow producers Caroline Baron and Jordan Tappis, Willimon's intricate storytelling and thought-provoking themes continue to captivate audiences worldwide.

Over on Andor, Willimon swapped his pen for keyboard, writing multiple episodes across both seasons. His creative journey with the Star Wars franchise kicked off when he collaborated with Andor genius Tony Gilroy during their work on the tragically deceased House of Cards. When Gilroy asked Willimon to lend a hand to Andor, Willimon initially squinted, given his admittedly pedestrian knowledge of the Star Wars universe. But Gilroy wanted it that way, emphasis on the human narrative amidst the cosmos, and Willimon jumped on board!

Willimon put in six weeks of hard work alongside Gilroy and Gilroy's sibling extraordinaire, Dan Gilroy, to develop the story for Andor. With no showrunner responsibilities weighing him down, he simply focused on writing scripts for his buddy Tony Gilroy. And exultantly, as long as those scripts met Gilroy's approval, Willimon was good to go!

The current season of Andor has earned Willimon's pride, and it's easy to see why. But Willimon didn't stop there. He's also been lending a hand in expanding the world of Severance for the Apple TV+ show's second season. Though not his usual MO, Willimon took on a new challenge, stepping in as an executive producer to assist the writers, resulting in an exceptional experience he would do again.

Willimon tells us that both collaborating on Andor and producing Severance have revitalized his love for producing. With a touch of artistic detachment and the practical ability to assist others, he effortlessly mixes his roles to help bring these extraordinary projects to the screen.

Stay tuned for the amazing future projects of Beau Willimon, as his versatility as a writer and producer ensures compelling narratives are a guarantee! And, of course, catch up on the latest from Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, DC, and the ever-fascinating Doctor Who.
