In a cooperative effort, Great Britain and France spearhead the formation of a future peacekeeping force aimed at securing Ukraine post-conflict. This alliance, comprising key NATO nations, is actively engaged in the planning stages. The potential deployment of soldiers could occur at the Polish-Ukrainian border.

Following evening discussions in Paris, the defense ministers of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Britain remained tight-lipped about the precise blueprint and manpower of such a peacekeeping force.

According to British defense minister John Healey, "Together with France, we're trying to steer the peace initiative and ensure a stable security guarantee for Ukraine." Joining forces with additional European nations and global counterparts, Paris and London aspire to establish a "coalition of the willing." He emphasized the importance of bolstering their positions relative to Ukraine, military expenditure, and Europe's security.

Troops at Poland's Border

French defense minister Sébastien Lecornu outlined the preliminary security guarantee for Ukraine as strengthening its own army, which has been attacked by Russia. "This assistance and guidance will be phased over an extended period," Lecornu noted. "European troops won't replace the Ukrainian army; we're not Ukrainians," he mentioned, alluding to the establishment of a ceasefire line. Lecornu subtly hinted at troop deployment to the Polish-Ukrainian border.

At the five-nation meeting, first initiated following Donald Trump's presidency, defense ministers also discussed accelerated militarization and the streamlined integration of their militaries. Germans defense minister Boris Pistorius expressed confidence, stating, "I'm convinced we'll be stronger if we act now, if we prioritize Europe's and beyond's security, and overcome short-term national interests." European countries must hasten the acquisition of uniform military equipment at a larger scale.

  1. The community policy should include provisions for increased military aid to Ukraine, especially from key NATO nations like Germany, Italy, Poland, and the UK, to strengthen Ukraine's peacekeeping forces.
  2. In the midst of peacekeeping efforts for Ukraine, it's essential for European countries, including the Ukrainians, to agree on a uniform employment policy among their militaries to streamline integration and accelerate militarization.
  3. To further bolster Ukraine's security post-conflict, the employment policy within this coalition of the willing should prioritize increasing manpower, possibly via WhatsApp recruiting efforts, for the upcoming peacekeeping mission at the Polish-Ukrainian border.
