Cold Snap to Hit Mid-Atlantic: Freeze Warnings Issued
A cold snap is set to hit the Mid-Atlantic region this weekend, with temperatures expected to drop significantly. A freeze warning has been issued for several counties, while frost advisories cover a broader area.
The coldest period will arrive late Friday night and persist until around 9 a.m. Saturday. Most suburbs will see temperatures dip into the low to middle 30s, with the coldest valleys likely to reach the upper 20s. To protect plants, residents are advised to bring in or cover tender plants and container gardens, disconnect garden hoses, and close exterior valves if accessible.
Freeze warnings have been issued for Frederick, Loudoun, Prince William, and northern Montgomery counties. Frost advisories are in effect for areas inside and around the beltway, southern Maryland, and the I-81 corridor. While D.C., Arlington, and Alexandria are expected to stay in the upper 30s to lower to middle 40s, patchy frost is still possible.
The cold weather is expected to last through Saturday morning, with most areas experiencing their coldest temperatures during this period. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions to protect their plants and properties from the freeze.
