Coast in Krasnodar region hits record 29°C summer temperature for the first time.

In the Krasnodar region of Russia, residents and visitors can expect a mix of summer recreation and challenging weather conditions during the first few days of August. According to the Krasnodar Center for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds are expected from July 31 to August 2.

Despite the impending stormy weather, the region is currently experiencing a hot anticyclone, which has dominated the southern Russian regions since at least May 2025. This weather pattern has resulted in very low precipitation, a serious drought trend, and high temperatures. Consequently, water reservoirs feeding into the Azov and Black Sea regions have been significantly reduced, reflecting high evaporation rates caused by the heat and drought.

Visitors or residents in Krasnodar Krai near these seas on August 1 and 2 will experience warm sea water, suitable for summer recreation, with temperatures around 23°C. However, the hot and dry weather, minimal rainfall, and drought-affected water resources are likely to persist, as forecasted by meteorologists.

On the beaches of Sochi, vendors have begun offering shade under canopies for 1,500 rubles, a move that has been considered illegal by some. In response, the head of Gelendzhik has prohibited charging vacationers for placement under canopies.

In addition to the weather conditions, the Krasnodar Krai is currently experiencing an allergy season, with ambrosia and other plants actively blooming. The warmest Black Sea waters are along the coast of Sochi, reaching 29°C, while the Azov Sea is cooler than the Black Sea.

The heatwave has also led to a record for electricity consumption in the Kuban and Adygea regions. Despite these challenges, the region's flora continues to thrive, with a variety of plants in bloom.

A storm warning is in effect in the Krasnodar region, and the lowest readings are recorded in Anapa, Novorossiysk, and Tuapse at 27°C. As always, it's important to stay informed and follow local weather updates to ensure a safe and enjoyable summer experience in the Krasnodar Krai.

The impending stormy weather, characterized by heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds, appears to be a contrast to the hot anticyclone that has dominated the Krasnodar region since May 2025, causing a serious drought trend and high temperatures. Despite the warm sea water suitable for summer recreation, the persisting hot and dry weather, minimal rainfall, and drought-affected water resources are expected to continue, as forecasted by meteorologists in the field of environmental-science.

During the allergy season, ambrosia and other plants are actively blooming in the Krasnodar Krai, yet efforts, such as providing shade under canopies, continue to address the challenges of the hot and dry weather conditions that the region currently faces.
