Coal-cutting operations are on hold in Brunsbüttel due to weather updates, with the resumption now scheduled for Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the town of Brunsbüttel is set for an eventful day, despite the looming stormy weather. Here's a rundown of the scheduled activities and some changes due to the weather conditions.
The rescheduled cabbage cutting ceremony, which is officially set to kick off the Dithmarscher Kohltage 2025, has been cancelled due to the weather. However, Minister Werner Schwarz, Kreispraesidentin Ute Borwieck-Dethlefs, and Landrat Torben Schütt will still attend the ceremony at 10:00 AM on Wednesday.
In a positive turn of events, Party Bingo with the Bingo Gringos is still scheduled for 6:00 PM at the Elbe Forum. Meanwhile, Sinfonisches Blasorchester Brunsbüttel will perform at 1:30 PM, and a live podcast recording by Küstenfrolleins is planned for 3:00 PM in the Bürgeraal.
A presentation of the Elbe Forum program and backstage tour starting in the Bürgeraal at 4:00 PM is also set to take place. For those interested in cooking, Rosa kocht grün will conduct a live cooking event (vegan) in the Bürgeraal from 12:30 PM to approximately 2:30 PM.
There will be a Q&A session with the Kohlregentin at 12:00 PM, and speeches by the Mayor, Minister, Landrat, DEHOGA, and the Kohlregentinnen are planned for 10:30 AM. An auction of Kohl decorations will take place at the end of the event.
Unfortunately, the women from Brunsbüttel and other Dithmarschen towns had to dismantle their coffee and cake buffet due to the cancellation. A total of 60 baked cakes will not be used today. Umbrellas set up at the empty tables and benches will not be opened due to the stormy weather, and the security guard mentioned that the umbrellas might take off and fly away in the storm despite their heavy bases.
In a separate development, Shanty-Chor Lägerdorf will perform twice on Wednesday, at 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM. A discussion titled "From field to plate" is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
The evening event at the Elbe Forum with Yared Dibaba is still scheduled to go ahead as planned, starting at 7 PM.
