Head coach Julian Nagelsmann sends a heartfelt message to the on-the-line players on the brink of the German football national team, ahead of tonight's (21:00 CET) Nations League semi-final in Munich against Portugal.

The final tournament roster features long-shots like Robert Andrich of Leverkusen, a player Nagelsmann has chosen and who's seen few minutes on the field in the Bundesliga recently.

"No one left behind"

Nagelsmann and his team decided to incorporate players who've seen limited action in the Bundesliga into the Nations League squad. Particularly, those who've been part of the squad for a while and made valuable contributions to their qualification for the Final Four. Take Robert Andrich, the 30-year-old Bayer professional, for example.

"Nobody should be left behind because they're sitting out at their club," Nagelsmann says. "Andrich wields a massive impact on the team—both on and off the pitch—even when he's not playing."

With World Cup qualifiers looming in the latter half of the year, a new squad overhaul and rejuvenation seem imminent. This Nations League mini-tournament with reigning champions Portugal (2019), France (2021), and Spain (2023) plays a crucial role for Nagelsmann in his World Cup buildup.

"The Final Four is vital for our confidence and growth," he says before the semifinal. "It's essential to beat two top-tier opponents. That's important for the World Cup qualifiers and the World Cup itself, to ensure we're well-equipped."
