Regensburg's football scene is a whirlwind as they've parted ways with yet another coach - Andreas Patz. This is the team's seventh coaching change in the 2024/25 second division season. The club announced the split with Patz, stating, "We both agreed it's best to move on beyond this season."
The relegated Regensburg, who didn't manage to secure a spot in the 2nd Bundesliga, have asked Patz to leave early. Current co-trainer Munier Raychouni will guide the team for the rest of the season.
"After the game against Cologne, I had an intense and honest discussion with Andi Patz. We took a comprehensive look at the season, and as a result of our discussions, we decided to part ways," said sports director Achim Beierlorzer. "We want a fresh start in the third division, and we want to tackle the upcoming challenges with new energy and a new coaching team."

- SpVgg Greuther Fürth: Jan Siewert -> Thomas Kleine

Regensburg's last game against 1. FC Köln sealed their relegation to the third division. The remaining games against Karlsruhe SC (11th May) and Darmstadt 98 (18th May) don't affect the bottom-placed team's position.
Patz, who took over after Joe Enochs' departure, failed to keep Regensburg in the 2nd Bundesliga. "We didn't manage to achieve the results we wanted to secure our spot in the 2nd Bundesliga. I take full responsibility for the team's development, and I believe this decision is a fair one," said Patz. "I wish SSV Jahn all the best in the coming seasons."

Insight: The Second Division's Coaching Shuffle
With seven coaching changes in the 2nd Bundesliga this season, teams are trying to find the formula for success. Poor performance, inconsistent results, and the need for a strategic shift are the main drivers behind these coaching changes.
- Schalke 04: Schalke's performance and development under Kees van Wonderen were concerning, with the team only six points above the relegation zone and a negative trend in results[1]. Their U23 coach, Jakob Fimpel, took over for the final games of the season[1].
- Hannover 96: Inconsistent results under André Breitenreiter led Hannover to fall behind in the promotion race, with only three wins in 13 matches[2]. The team is now being overseen by a group of coaches for the remaining fixtures: Lars Barlemann, Dirk Lottner, and Christian Schulz[2].
- In an effort to improve their standing, Regensburg has decided to focus on community aid and vocational training for their players, aiming to provide them with new skills and opportunities beyond football.
- Regensburg's sports director, Achim Beierlorzer, has also announced a joint initiative with local businesses to offer coaching and mentorship programs as part of their vocational training program.
- The new coaching team in Regensburg, led by Munier Raychouni, is eager to make a positive impact and believes that these initiatives will foster a stronger sense of camaraderie and resilience within the team.
- As the European leagues prepare for the winter break, Regensburg aims to use this time for intensive training and personnel development, with an eye towards a more successful run in the third division next season.
