UEFA Disciplinary Committee Imposes Fines and Bans on Barcelona, Inter, and Coaches

In the aftermath of the tense Champions League semifinal between Barcelona and Inter Milan, several fines and bans have been imposed by the UEFA Disciplinary Committee.

The most notable sanctions were directed towards Hansi Flick and his assistant Marcus Sorg, who were fined €20,000 each and banned for one match in UEFA club competitions due to their misconduct involving their furious reaction to several refereeing decisions during the match. This misconduct prevented Barcelona from reaching their first Champions League final in a decade[1][2][3][4].

Barcelona forwards Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski have also been fined 5,000 euros each for failing to comply with instructions from an anti-doping officer and not immediately reporting to a control post[1].

In addition to the fines for the teams' staff, both Barcelona and Inter were fined for incidents involving their supporters. Barcelona has been fined 12,750 euros for fans lighting fireworks and throwing objects during the match, while Inter has been fined an additional 22,000 euros for their supporters' blocking public passageways and lighting fireworks[2].

The sanctions will take immediate effect and will rule both Hansi Flick and Marcus Sorg out of the start of this season's Champions League. The fines and bans are in relation to incidents during the same game[3].

It is important to note that the fines and bans imposed on Hansi Flick, Marcus Sorg, and their respective teams do not involve any misconduct other than the misconduct related to the semifinal game against Inter Milan[5].
