After a string of disappointing results, Jahn Regensburg has decided to shake things up before the penultimate matchday of the second division season. The club has announced that Head Coach Andreas Patz and the team are going their separate ways.
Regensburg was relegated to the third division after a 1:1 draw against 1. FC Köln on Saturday. The remaining games against Karlsruhe SC (May 11) and Darmstadt 98 (May 18) no longer hold any sporting significance for them.
Patz, who had temporarily taken over the Regensburg team after the departure of Joe Enochs in late October, was given a contract until the end of the season following a brief period of success at the helm. However, recent months have seen the team struggling to secure their place in the 2nd Bundesliga, leading to this decision.
"We unfortunately haven’t achieved the desired results in recent months to secure our place in the 2nd Bundesliga. That's very disappointing,” said Patz. "As head coach, I bear a great responsibility for the team's development, and I believe this decision is a logical and joint one."
Former co-trainer Munier Raychouni will take over the reins until the end of the season.
This is the seventh trainer dismissal in the second division in the past three weeks. Previous coaching changes in the league frequently occur due to poor team performance, end of contracts, coaches accepting offers from other clubs, strategic changes in club management, and personal reasons.
