Coach Bravely Rescues Juniors in Deadly Bus Accident Involving a Football Squad
In the Swiętokrzyskie region, a heart-wrenching bus catastrophe took place, taking the lives of a coach and the driver while leaving 17 junior football players injured. The accident happened on a Saturday afternoon when the bus, transporting the Alit Ożarów junior squad, veered off the road and collided with a tree after the 65-year-old driver inexplicably lost consciousness while driving.
As per the players' accounts, their 43-year-old coach bravely tried to seize the vehicle's control after noticing the driver's state. Although his fighting spirit to halt the bus failed, the players asserted that his actions significantly reduced the death toll. "Without the coach, there could've been more casualties," they shared.

Urgent Response
Swiftly, emergency services, consisting of four medical helicopters, were dispatched to the scene. Although paramedics made every effort, the driver was confirmed dead at the scene. The 17 injured players, ranging from 16 to 18 years old, were immediately hospitalized in Kielce, Opatów, and Staszów. Whilst some needed extended hospital care, fortune favored them as none of their injuries appeared fatal.
Fatalistically, after hours in the hospital, the coach too succumbed to his injuries, deepening the collective grief over the accident.
Open Investigation
Regional authorities promptly launched an investigation to pinpoint the exact reason behind the accident, and several witnesses have already been questioned.
