Coach assistant from Florida under temporary suspension due to involvement in pre-match disputes
In a surprising turn of events, Florida Gators associate head coach Jabbar Juluke has been suspended for three games due to his role in pregame scuffles between the Gators and LSU. The suspension was announced by the university and the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
The altercations occurred before LSU's 20-10 victory over Florida in Baton Rouge, La. The SEC commissioner, Greg Sankey, stated that Juluke's behavior was unacceptable and not aligned with SEC standards.
Jabbar Juluke took full responsibility for his actions and expressed regret for his epic behavior during the pregame scuffles. He plans to use the incident to improve his emotional intelligence.
Coach Juluke, who was brought to Florida by head coach Billy Napier from Louisiana, where they coached together from 2018-21, will miss contests against No. 6 Miami, No. 8 Texas, and No. 10 Texas A&M.
Napier stated that Juluke's actions prior to the game against LSU were not up to the standard of their program. However, he believes Juluke will learn from the experience and be better for it.
The suspension comes at a critical time for the Florida Gators, who have lost two consecutive games against South Florida and LSU. The team won its final four games in 2024 and was ranked No. 13 before losing 18-16 at home to unranked South Florida on Sept. 6. Florida's overall record in Napier's fourth season in Gainesville is 20-21.
With Juluke's suspension, Mike White, the coach replacing Jabbar Juluke during his thirty-day suspension, will take over his duties. White has been an assistant coach at Florida since 2022.
The altercations between the SEC rivals, Florida and LSU, were not limited to Juluke. Campus police had to intervene in the first series of shoving matches, and several Gators players jogged around the area behind the LSU bench, leading to another crazy altercation.
As the Gators prepare to face No. 6 Miami, the team and its fans will be hoping for a more peaceful and focused approach in the coming games.
