CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins labeled as 'hack' and 'imbecile' by Meghan McCain, with demand for withdrawal of White House credentials

In the ongoing saga between the White House and the media, CNN's Chief White House Correspondent, Kaitlan Collins, has found herself at the centre of a series of contentious exchanges.

During a recent town hall in New Hampshire, President Donald Trump called Collins a 'nasty person,' marking an extension of the adversarial dynamic beyond the Oval Office. This dynamic has been evident in Collins' interactions with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard during briefings.

The latest confrontation occurred during a briefing where Gabbard introduced a new trove of declassified documents. These documents were intended to support President Trump's accusation that former President Barack Obama and his top officials committed 'treason' by manipulating intelligence related to Russia's involvement in the 2016 election.

Collins pressed Gabbard, suggesting political motivation behind the timing of the document release. Leavitt defended the administration, stating that they had found irrefutable evidence of Russian meddling. However, Gabbard corrected Collins, stating that the Senate Intelligence Committee has a different function than the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

The tension between Collins and the White House officials is not a new development. In the past, Collins has been barred from covering a White House press event after pressing on Russia-related questions, an incident widely criticised at the time. She has also faced pushback from Trump officials for her confrontational questioning style.

In April, Collins pressed Trump in the Oval Office over the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia despite a Supreme Court order, prompting Trump to accuse her of lacking credibility and dismiss CNN as biased.

Collins' career at CNN began with her promotion as the Chief White House Correspondent in her earlier years. Despite the criticisms and challenges she faces, Collins has stood her ground, doubling down on her questioning during tense exchanges.

Recently, Meghan McCain has called for Collins' press credentials to be revoked. McCain's criticism comes after a tense exchange during a White House press briefing. However, Collins' unyielding approach to her role as a journalist continues to garner attention and respect from many in the media industry.
