CMT Presents: Youth Adaptation of The Wizard of Oz
In the heart of Fresno, California, the Children's Musical Theaterworks is gearing up for an extraordinary performance of "The Wizard of Oz": Youth Edition, marking their 25th Anniversary season. This production, featuring a cast of 80 children, is set to captivate audiences from August 1-10, 2025, at the Fresno Memorial Auditorium.
The production stands out for its emphasis on nurturing young talent. Many of the production team members are teenagers who started their journey with the theatre as actors. The rehearsal process is marked by mutual respect and patience, fostering an environment that encourages growth and development.
Mandy Everson serves as Vocal Director, and Stella Freeman takes charge as the choreographer. Their guidance, combined with that of Assistant Director Ella Rutiaga, ensures a polished and engaging performance.
The costumes for "The Wizard of Oz" are a spectacle in themselves. Emma Raymond, the Costume, Hair, and Makeup Designer, has created unique costumes for the munchkins, jitterbugs, winkies, winged monkeys, Ozians of Emerald City, and the iconic characters like the green witch, a lion with a perm, a galvanized tin man, and a patchwork scarecrow.
