In a thrilling Champions League opener, FC Bayern Munich secured a 3-1 victory over Club World Cup holders FC Chelsea. The German giants, led by coach Vincent Kompany, demonstrated their dominance in the football match played at the Allianz Arena.

The own goal by Trevoh Chalobah (21st minute) gave Bayern an early lead, following a cross from Michael Olise that took a deflection off the Chelsea defender. This was Bayern's 22nd consecutive opening win in the Champions League, extending their impressive record.

Chelsea responded quickly, with Cole Palmer equalizing for the visitors after a swift counterattack (29th minute). However, Bayern regained their lead before half-time, thanks to an own goal by Kane, who inadvertently assisted his own team's second goal in the penalty area.

In the second half, Olise had a chance to increase Bayern's lead but missed a clear opportunity after a fantastic assist from Kane (60th minute). The game's decisive moment came when Harry Kane converted a penalty kick, his eighth in the Champions League for FC Barcelona, to make it 3-1 (70th minute).

The match was not without its share of injuries, with Josip Stanisic and Jonathan Tah both forced to leave the game due to injuries. Tah was substituted at halftime following a shaky performance and receiving a yellow card.

Michael Ballack, a former Bayern and Chelsea player, described the victory as a statement, highlighting Bayern's intent to challenge for the title this season. Vincent Kompany, the current Bayern coach, has set winning the Champions League as his goal, and this win is a step in the right direction.

Looking ahead, Bayern will face FC Pafos away in two weeks, after their draw against Olympiakos Piraeus in their Champions League debut. The team will be looking to continue their winning streak and maintain their position at the top of the group standings.
