Forest Fire Near Tropical Island Put Out
A sizzling forest blaze flared up close to the "Tropical Islands" getaway spot in southern Brandenburg on a Wednesday, eventually being tamed by firefighters in the late evening. Previously, news outlet Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) had reported on the bonfire's progression.
In the midday sun, the fire ignited a galvanizing response from firefighters, who dispatched around 120 personnel to quell the flames. The source of the inferno proved elusive at first, but it was eventually determined to be situated in the Dahme-Spreewald district, near the leisure park.
Three hectares of woodland sprawled aflame, yet thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported. The efficient firefighting efforts kept the flames at bay.
Branderburg's Forest Fire Risk Soaring
Brandenburg faces an impending threat of high to extremely high forest fire risk in most of its districts. The districts of Prignitz, Ostprignitz-Ruppin, Havelland, Potsdam-Mittelmark, and Oder-Spree are currently under the highest warning level 5, as reported by the state environmental ministry.
The forest fire risk in Europe has seen a notable surge, with human activities and climate change being two primary contributing factors.
