Clinton Figures Summoned for Depositions in Epstein Probe Investigations

In a significant development, the House Oversight Committee has issued subpoenas to former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, along with several former Attorneys General and FBI Directors, demanding testimony and documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.

The subpoenas seek testimony about Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell's crimes and also request records from the Justice Department investigation into Epstein and Maxwell. The committee specifically mentions Bill Clinton's past ties to Epstein, including known flights on Epstein's private plane and reported associations with Maxwell.

The inquiry spans officials from multiple administrations, reflecting bipartisan interest in scrutinizing federal law enforcement’s handling of the Epstein case, amid criticisms of previous investigations. Attorney General Pam Bondi was also subpoenaed for relevant documents.

Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence for child sex trafficking, was moved to a federal prison in Texas last week. She was transferred from the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida, to a minimum security facility for women in Bryan, Texas. The facility is known for its low-security environment. Maxwell's attorney declined to discuss the reasons for her transfer.

Maxwell was previously convicted of helping Jeffrey Epstein groom teenage girls and sexually abuse and exploit them. Online prison records indicate that Maxwell's release date is set for July 17, 2037.

The House Oversight Committee has also subpoenaed the Department of Justice (DOJ) for files related to the case. Notably, an audio recording of the DOJ's recent interview with Maxwell has been made available, and the Trump administration is considering releasing the transcript.

The news of Maxwell's transfer has drawn criticism from the family of Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein's most outspoken accusers who passed away in April, and a few of Epstein's and Maxwell's accusers. They expressed their disgust following the news of Maxwell's transfer.

Bill Clinton is scheduled to appear for a deposition on October 14, 2025, and Hillary Clinton on October 9, 2025. Maxwell's deposition is scheduled for August 11. The depositions for former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are part of a broader probe into Epstein-related misconduct and government response, with depositions imminent and ongoing document review.

The House Oversight Committee's probe into Epstein-related misconduct and government response includes subpoenas for former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as part of policy-and-legislation efforts focusing on crime-and-justice and general-news. The ongoing investigation involves several former Attorneys General and FBI Directors, as well as Attorney General Pam Bondi, amid mounting concerns about federal law enforcement's handling of the Epstein case and criticisms of previous investigations in the realm of politics.
