A 60-year-old climber suffered serious injuries after falling 15 meters at the Schmalenbühler Kletterfelsen in Annweiler am Trifels, South Palatinate. The man, who was ascending with his partner, reportedly failed to secure his climbing rope, leading to his fall when he graspceped onto it.

The climber impacted the forest floor, resulting in severe but non-fatal wounds. Subsequently, the woman was unable to maneuver up or down the rock face without a rope. She was subsequently rescued by the mountain rescue team. The rescue team and the fire department also managed to extract the injured climber and transfer him to emergency services.

Police investigations following the incident turned up no evidence of any criminal activity. The accident transpired at a designated climbing site.
