Music Climate Pact Launches Comprehensive Sustainability Training Program

The Music Climate Pact, a collective of industry stakeholders committed to reducing their environmental impact and operating sustainably, has announced a tender process to create a training program for workers across the music industry.

The training program, set to be delivered in the first half of 2026, aims to empower industry workers with the knowledge and skills needed for a sustainable music industry. The program will cover a wide range of roles, from physical production to C-Suite transformation management.

Music Ally, a company with a proven track record in sustainability training for the recorded music industry, has been identified as a prime candidate for this initiative. Their comprehensive training encompasses marketing, communication, artist support, finance, legal, licensing, HR, and C-suite transformation management.

While other education providers, such as Ari’s Take (ATA) and Creative BC, offer valuable industry education, they do not specialize in sustainability training across all professional functions. Emerging platforms like the Artists Learning Hub and Waterbear focus on sustainability education, but their scope is currently limited.

Roxy Erickson, project manager of the Music Climate Pact, emphasizes the importance of this initiative. "We need to empower our industry workers with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed, climate-friendly decisions," she says.

The high-impact hybrid launch activation of the training program aims to engage and inspire participants, setting the stage for a sustainable future in the music industry. Elizabeth Griffin, BMG senior manager ESG & sustainability, is a co-chair of the Music Climate Pact Working Group on Climate Training, and the first two modules of the training program are expected to be delivered and beta-tested by autumn, with a Q4 launch.

The Music Climate Pact's training program focuses on reducing the music industry's environmental impact and meeting ongoing requirements and legislation. By equipping industry workers with the necessary skills and knowledge, the Music Climate Pact hopes to drive positive change and create a more sustainable future for the music industry.
