Clear skies and cold weather tonight as visibility improves: Meteorology
Strong northwesterly winds have swept across Kuwait, bringing gusts over 70 km/h and cutting visibility to under 1,000 metres in places. Conditions are now easing, with clearer skies expected by tonight as temperatures drop to a chilly 7–11 °C.
Earlier in the day, fierce winds created hazardous conditions, particularly in coastal and northern regions. Visibility plummeted, affecting travel and outdoor activities. Meteorologist Mahmoud Al-Ali had warned of these disruptions, linking them to the powerful gusts.
The winds have since weakened, now blowing steadily at 10–40 km/h. As the air clears, horizontal visibility is slowly returning to normal. Al-Ali’s forecast also noted that tonight would remain cold, with skies staying clear.
Similar weather patterns impacted neighbouring areas, including Tripoli, Zawiya, and the Jabal al-Gharbi region in Libya. There, reduced visibility caused by the same wind system led to comparable travel difficulties.
Kuwait’s weather will stay cold overnight, with temperatures hovering between 7 and 11 °C. The worst of the winds has passed, and visibility continues to improve. Residents can expect clearer conditions by morning, though the chill will linger.
