Unveiling the Draw: A Triumph for this Broadcaster in German Viewership
Saturday's ratings weren't just about our soccer U17 World Cup heroes, they also recognized the allure of the European Football Championship 2024 (EM 2024) draw. The event, broadcasted live from the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, garnered a substantial audience.
EM 2024 Draw: RTL and ZDF Took Control of the Screen
ZDF, our beloved channel, amassed an impressive 2.7 million viewers, while RTL managed a solid 1.1 million viewers, despite a delay of eleven minutes.
Prior to the draw, viewers were treated to a sports studio with ski coverage, interviews of victorious skiers, advertisements and a recap of our record-breaking U17 World Cup soccer victory.
As the eleventh minute ticked away, viewers were greeted by commentator Oliver Schmidt's apology for the delay: "We're sneaking into the Elbphilharmonie a little late."

RTL sealed their place in our hearts with their Saturday broadcast of the U17 soccer final. Securing the deal at the last minute, RTL teamed up with national broadcasters Florian König, Marco Hagemann, and Steffen Freund.
In its peak, up to 4 million soccer enthusiasts watched the thrilling finale on RTL. The average viewership totaled 2.47 million viewers, ensuring an impressive 20.90% share of the total audience. In the nail-biting penalty shootout, RTL's share rose to a remarkable 26.8%.
