Clash scheduled between DBTC and SHS-AdC in upcoming 'El Clasico' contest

The long-standing feud between two powerhouse schools, Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), is about to reignite in a thrilling alumni football match named "El Clásico" on June 1, 2025, at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

You know how La Salle and Ateneo duke it out in Manila? Well, here in Cebu, the stage is set for an epic clash between DBTC and SHS-AdC, much like the Spanish term "El Clásico" that denotes the fiery matches between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Event organizer and former Cebu City Sports Commission Chairman, John Pages, revealed this electrifying news at a press conference at Unity Coffee & Vinyl. He explained, "Rivalry in sports makes it more exciting. This is the first one, and we'll take it from here. We will have a trophy and it'll stay with the winning school for one year until the next El Clásico."

As the Iconic Match Approaches...

To keep the flames of this competition burning bright, DBTC will be coached by the school's long-time coach Glen Ramos, while SHS-AdC will be helmed by Ref Cuaresma, a former pro player. While the final rosters haven't been revealed just yet, star players like Glen Thomas Ramos, Kamil Amirul, Kenry Balobo, and John Clyde Vitualla from DBTC, and Leo Maquiling, Kintaro Miyagi, and Jack Zambrano from SHS-AdC, are rumored to make an appearance.

As for the match itself, it's sanctioned by the Cebu Regional Football Association (CRFA) and will consist of three 40-minute halves with flying substitutions, ensuring intense, nonstop action.

But this isn't just about winning. The event's ultimate goal is to foster camaraderie and unity between these two fierce rivals. Proceeds from the match will benefit the football programs of both schools.

Before the main event,there will be two smaller matches between the high school and elementary teams of both schools, adding another layer of excitement to the day!
