Clash of the Titans: Baltimore Orioles contest against Seattle Mariners Betting Odds, Examination & Forecast Score

The Seattle Mariners are currently leading the American League West division, but their offensive struggles have been a cause for concern. In their recent series at home against Minnesota, they suffered their first series loss in nine attempts.

Despite the team's batting average being the worst in Major League Baseball (.218), their pitching staff has been a bright spot. Logan Gilbert, the team's starting pitcher for Wednesday's game, has shown impressive form. In his last outing against the Twins, he allowed two runs on four hits, striking out three without walking a batter over six innings. Notably, Gilbert has completed at least six frames in each of his last nine outings, earning eight quality starts in that span. He has also added a splitter with great success in 2023 and a cutter this season that ranks among the nastier pitches in baseball.

However, the Mariners have been unlucky when outhitting their opponents. It was the fourth time in 39 games that Seattle lost when outhitting its opponent. Mitch Garver, despite hitting just .172, has contributed with 10 homers and 32 RBIs. Unfortunately, Garver is day-to-day after exiting Sunday's contest early. X-rays on his right wrist came back negative, but his status for the upcoming games remains uncertain.

The Mariners are reportedly considering trades for players such as Luis Robert Jr. and Tommy Pham from the Chicago White Sox, and Josh Bell from the Miami Marlins, to bolster their offence. The bullpen could also be addressed, but it seems less pressing, especially as Gregory Santos works his way back from injury.

Meanwhile, Corbin Burnes, the ace right-hander and former NL Cy Young Award winner for the Baltimore Orioles, has been impressive. In his last start against Texas, he allowed one run on nine hits and no walks while striking out five batters over seven innings. Burnes has a better ERA and WHIP than he did last season for Milwaukee. Interestingly, Burnes has gone away from his cutter more frequently when he's been behind in the count.

In terms of their career matchups, Burnes has a 2-0 record against Seattle with an ERA of 1.59 and 14 strikeouts in two appearances. The Baltimore Orioles, who lead Major League Baseball in homers, will provide a formidable challenge for the Mariners' pitching staff.

On a positive note, Gunnar Henderson, one of the two finalists at shortstop in the AL for the All-Star Game, has announced his participation in the Home Run Derby at the All-Star Game. Henderson's power and consistency at the plate could be a boost for the Mariners as they look to improve their offence.

As the season progresses, the Seattle Mariners will need to find ways to address their offensive struggles while continuing to rely on their strong pitching staff. With the trade deadline approaching, fans will be keeping a close eye on any potential moves the team makes to strengthen their lineup.
