Investigation into the Sailing Boat Collision off the Coast of Brodtener, Baltic Sea

The incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon, approximately two nautical miles from Brodt, as evidenced by the coast guard's prompt response. The coast guard volunteer station in Travemünde dispatched the "Erich Koschubs" and six crew members to the scene. The water police from Travemünde and another rescue team from Grömitz were also informed about the incident. Upon arrival, the helpers managed to secure both boats within ten minutes.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported in the collision. The sailor who was alone on the other boat was also assisted. Both boats were towed to Travemünde, with the coast guard team from Grömitz returning with the cutter "Felix Sand".

The maritime rescue control center in Bremen was alerted about the distress call, which was a "Pan Pan" distress call, signifying that the situation was serious but not critical. The investigation into the cause of the accident is now being led by the water police.
