Clash of Protests in Tübingen, Poland: Police Intervention Required

In the heart of Tübingen, a city in southwest Germany, a heated demonstration took place on Friday, causing disruptions and leading to a significant police force presence. The events unfolded in connection with a discussion event at the Hermann-Hepper-Hall in Westbahnhofstraße.

According to news aktuell from Police Headquarters Reutlingen, around 2000 demonstrators gathered, with visitors disrupting the debate with loud protests. The police force, supported by various organizations such as Fridays for Future, the alliance "Gemeinsam und solidarisch gegen Rechts" from Reutlingen-Tübingen, and "Omas gegen Rechts" (Grandmas against the Right), were present in large numbers, with many officers, access controls, and security personnel inside the event hall to maintain order.

Unfortunately, the demonstration turned violent. An officer was attacked with a flagpole, and plastic bottles were thrown at the police force. Remarkably, no one was injured as a result of these attacks or the throwing of plastic bottles. However, an officer slightly injured his hand during the deployment.

In response to the chaos, the Police Headquarters Reutlingen issued exclusion orders for 30 individuals, and forces from several police headquarters, particularly from the Police Headquarters Deployment, supported them during the deployment. The police force had to push back and repel some participants to keep entrances and barriers clear, ultimately interrupting the debate.

It is yet to be clarified if any criminal offenses occurred in this context. For further information, please contact Police Headquarters Reutlingen: Lutz Jaksche, 07121/942-1100 (Mo. - Fr./7:00 to 17:00), 07121/942-1111 (outside these times), 07121/942-2224, [email protected], or visit their website at http://www.polizei-bw.de.

The events in Tübingen on Friday serve as a reminder of the importance of maintaining peace and order during demonstrations. It is hoped that such incidents can be avoided in the future, ensuring a safe and productive environment for all.
