Clandestine operations tapped in Degollado, Jalisco, publicized by the Prosecutor's Office, focusing on illicit hydrocarbon activities
The General Attorney's Office of the Republic (FGR) has launched an investigation into crimes related to hydrocarbons in the state of Jalisco. The investigation was initiated following the discovery of a clandestine intake site, resulting in the securing of a fuel shipment.
The FGR is reinforcing its commitment to combat federal crimes related to hydrocarbons, as stated by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum. She emphasised the need for tests to determine the quality of the confiscated fuel.
The investigation continues in accordance with the Federal Law to Prevent and Sanction Crimes Committed in the Hydrocarbon Sector. Authorities found a tank with 500 liters of hydrocarbon at the site.
No new arrests were reported in the operation, but everything recovered was placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Ministry (MPF). The confiscated fuel will be investigated by the Attorney's Office.
Two types of huachicol were mentioned: fuel imported from the US that is reported as another product and sold illegally, and false purchases with fake invoices. An ongoing investigation involves a suspected courier sent by El Mencho, who is linked to a businessman involved in bribes in Pemex and offered 10 million dollars for him.
No new information about the appeal of Israel Vallarta's release was provided, nor about the investigation in Degollado. The public is invited to report these practices 24 hours a day through various contact methods provided by the FGR.
Once the FGR concludes its investigations and the fuel is declared forfeited or subject to disposal, the authorities coordinate with environmental and regulatory agencies, such as the Mexican Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), to handle safe disposal. Disposal methods aim to prevent environmental contamination and may involve controlled burning, recycling, or transfer to authorized processing facilities.
The intervention originated from a report by the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena). The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has stressed the importance of combating these illegal activities to ensure the integrity of the nation's energy sector.
