Mexico: Six Suspected Members of "Operation Sweeper" Arrested in Multiple Raids

In a series of coordinated operations, Mexican authorities have arrested six suspected members of the criminal group "Operation Sweeper," which is believed to be affiliated with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

The arrests were made by the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the Navy Secretariat, and the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) in two separate incidents. The first incident took place in the Bosques de Amalucan neighborhood of the state capital, where Erik N., alias "El Yiyo," 20, from Jalisco, and Diego N., 20, were apprehended. A separate incident in the same neighborhood led to the arrest of the same individuals.

In a separate operation, Agustín N., alias "El Maken," 21; Astrid N., 18; Dony N., alias "El Pilas," 35, of Guatemalan origin; and Juan Manuel N., alias "El Rolas," 35, from Jalisco, were arrested in a property in the Santa Margarita neighborhood. Tactical vests with the legend "Operation Sweeper" and "CJNG" were seized during the arrests.

In addition, six suspected members of the same group were arrested in Puebla. Among those arrested are two individuals potentially linked to the murder of a State Police Custody Officer killed in Puebla. The truck used by the detainees had plates from the State of Mexico.

Firearms of different calibers, useful cartridges for exclusive use by the Armed Forces, and packages with possible drugs were also seized. Human remains were found in a cooler in Culiacán, and a cardboard sign with a message was left at the location.

However, the search results do not provide specific information about the members of Operation Sweeper within the Jalisco New Generation Cartel or their accusations. They mention "La Barredora (the sweeper truck)" as a distinct criminal group disputing territory with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel but do not clarify any internal subgroup called Operation Sweeper or related accusations.

Further investigation is necessary to gather more precise or updated details about the identities and accusations against members of Operation Sweeper within the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

  1. Reports of the arrests of suspected Operation Sweeper members extend beyond Jalisco, with six individuals arrested in Puebla, possibly linked to a state police custody officer's murder.
  2. General news and crime-and-justice outlets are keenly following the ongoing circumstances of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel's affiliate, Operation Sweeper, in various Mexican states, calling for further political and investigative probing.
