Civilian aircraft are no longer permitted to use Jordan's airspace.
Dang, Jordan's Closing Its Skies Again!
It's that time again, folks! Jordan's airspace has been sealed off for civilians, and according to TASS, it's all due to operational reasons. The Queen Alia International Airport in Amman made the announcement, stating that the airspace closed at 17:50 local time (20:50 Moscow time) and will remain off-limits until roughly 02:00 UTC on Monday, June 16 (05:00 Moscow time).
El Al, an Israeli airline, had already canceled all flights until June 17, with restrictions on flights to cities like Moscow extended until June 23. Israel's airspace was closed last June 13 when they announced the kicking off of an operation against Iran. The decision was made to ensure air transport safety in the region.
Israel's operation, code-named "Wrath of the Lion," involved their forces striking Iran's nuclear and military facilities. The attacks targeted infrastructure related to nuclear weapons development and locations housing high-ranking military personnel. Gee, I wonder if Gazeta.Ru's online broadcast gave us the play-by-play?
Earlier, a Georgian airline canceled flights to Tel Aviv.
Now here's the lowdown on why Jordan had to shut down its airspace. With the escalating military tension between Israel and Iran, the Jordanian Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) implemented temporary protective measures to secure air travel and maintain passenger safety. With worries about potential missile strikes or aerial defense activities affecting nearby countries, Jordan wasn't taking chances[1][2][4]. As of now, Jordan's airspace is open, but future closures could be on the horizon based on regional developments. So, keep an eye out for those sky-high changes!
