Preparing for the Future: Kaarst's Large-Scale Emergency Drill

On August 30th, the city of Kaarst will conduct a comprehensive emergency drill to ensure the highest level of preparedness in the face of potential emergencies. This exercise is designed to optimise the assessment of situations, communication, and cooperation among emergency services and staff.

The emergency drill, led by the city administration's crisis management team, will be headed by the First Deputy Mayor, Dr. Sebastian Semmler. According to Dr. Semmler, extreme weather conditions and the challenges they bring are on the rise. This exercise is a crucial step to ensure that the city is prepared for real emergencies.

Mayor Ursula Baum has expressed her support for the upcoming drill, acknowledging the importance of readiness in maintaining the safety of citizens. The public is invited to visit emergency information points in Kaarst, with the addresses available on the city's website.

During the exercise, warning sirens will sound twice: at 11:06 AM and 11:12 AM. The first signal will be a rising and falling continuous tone lasting one minute, followed by a continuous tone lasting one minute. This will serve as a reminder of the ongoing drill.

The emergency numbers 112 and 110 remain fully available during the exercise for real emergencies. The Nina warning app will also be updated with information during the exercise.

Warning vehicles will drive through parts of Kaarst, broadcasting information via loudspeakers. The public is asked to understand any inconveniences during the exercise. The "All Clear" signal will be heard three times during the exercise: at 11:00 AM, 11:12 AM, and 11:18 AM.

Mayor Ursula Baum thanks firefighters for their commitment and readiness, emphasising the importance of their role in maintaining the safety of citizens. The emergency exercise in the city area will simulate extensive power outages, infrastructure damage, and overwhelmed emergency call lines, providing valuable training for all involved.

The city of Kaarst encourages its citizens to stay informed and prepared. For the latest updates on the emergency drill, please visit the city's website or local news sources.

More sports should be integrated into the emergency drill to simulate increased public gatherings, as such situations could pose additional challenges. To improve the efficiency of the drill, emergency responders could participate in team-building activities like sports to enhance communication and cooperation.
