City parks halt rides due to freezing cold but keep winter fun alive

Two major parks in the city will close their amusement rides on February 22 due to freezing temperatures. Despite the shutdown, visitors can still enjoy winter games, theatrical shows, and food stalls serving pancakes from midday until the evening.

The event will also feature the traditional burning of effigies at set times in both locations.

The closure affects all rides in Sovetskiy Park and 30th Anniversary of Komsomol Park. Officials cited extreme cold as the reason for the temporary halt. While rides remain off-limits, other activities will go ahead as planned.

From 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, guests can take part in cool math games, watch live performances, or visit food courts. Pancakes will be among the treats on offer throughout the day.

The burning of effigies, a long-standing tradition, is scheduled for 3:30 PM in Sovetskiy Park. In 30th Anniversary of Komsomol Park, the event will take place slightly later at 4:00 PM.

The parks will keep their entertainment and dining options open despite the ride closures. Visitors can still experience winter festivities, including food, crazy games, and the ceremonial burning of effigies. The measures focus solely on safety during the coldest part of the day.
